The challenge

GSL, headquartered in Dubai, wanted a warehouse operation that blue-chip clients would trust with their stock: accurate inventory, fast and visible order handling, and billing that matched the work done. It also needed a system that could grow with a multi-warehouse operation at the Dubai Investment Park.

What GSL did

• Chose Manhattan WMS for its track record in the region and how far it can be configured.
• Gave clients self-service. GSL's clients place and track their orders online.
• Integrated billing. Client billing was integrated with GSL's Oracle E-Business Suite.
• Grew in phases. Two new distribution centres went live first, and phases two and three followed.

Results

• Products for more than 40 clients filled two new warehouses within seven months of going live
• Inventory accuracy averages 99.8%
• Phases two and three added five more warehouses within 18 months
• Clients place and track their orders online
